Salar Pashtoonyar is a filmmaker hailing from Afghanistan.

With a portfolio of compelling shorts, he has garnered international recognition, having his films screened at renowned festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand International, and Telluride Film Festival and featured on CBC Canada and Canal +. His short film, "Bad Omen,” received recognition at the Canadian Screen Awards 2021 as a nominee for Best Canadian Short. It also won the esteemed Student Oscar at the 2021 Academy Gold.

Salar holds a diploma and master's in Film Production from Toronto Film School and York University.
