Salar Pashtoonyar is a Canadian filmmaker hailing from Afghanistan.

His short films have been screened at renowned festivals such as the Telluride Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, and Toronto International Film Festival and featured on CBC Canada and Canal Plus. Salar has received recognition at the Canadian Screen Awards as a nominee for Best Canadian Short. He was also awarded the esteemed Student Oscar at the 2021 Student Academy Awards officiated by the Academy of Arts and Motion Sciences.
